Sports Supplements for Beginners

in Sports Nutrition Supplement, Sports Supplements for Beginners

We wanted to start with sports supplements for beginners so that we can make sure everyone is starting off with a good knowledge base.  Sports nutrition supplements are an important addition to any workout routine, but there are many myths and misconceptions.  It is much better to start from the beginning, so we can make sure that everyone has current and safe information.

Before we begin, it is important to look at what we expect the nutritional supplements to do for us.  If we start off with unreasonable expectations about supplements we are only setting ourselves up for failure and disappointment.  We want you to have success, so it’s important that any myths are dispelled upfront.

Nutritional Supplement Myths

Supplements will not replace your workout.  You will still need to put your time and energy into exercising and training several days a week because it is the combination of pushing yourself and a sports nutrition supplement that will help you achieve your goals and break through any fitness barriers.

Supplements will not make you skinnier/stronger/faster overnight.  A nutritional supplement can speed up the process of building a better, leaner, more athletic you, but nothing will happen overnight.  It takes the dedication of showing up everyday and every week to bring about the change you want.

Nutritional Supplement Facts

Supplements allow you to recover quicker.  No one likes sore muscles, especially if you are just starting out.  Sports supplements give your muscles, joints, and tendons the nutrients they need to replace the stored glycogen you burned in your workout.  This allows muscles to begin the rebuilding process sooner.
Not only does this mean you get stronger faster, it also means you will be much less sore.  Quicker recovery means you can workout harder.  This will allow you to create dramatic results in a much shorter time.

Supplements have a best time frame to be taken.  The hour immediately after you workout is commonly referred to as the Magic Hour because it is when you muscles are best able to absorb new nutrients.  Take advantage of this to give your muscles the supplements they need to recover and grow quickly.

That is all for our sports nutritional supplement for beginners guide.  In the next few posts, we will discuss body building sports supplement and sports nutrition for high school athletes.
